On Court
For thirty-one years (1987–2018), the Miami Open was played on Key Biscayne — often called the fifth Grand Slam, the most important non-major tournament in tennis. Andre Agassi won
here six times. Steffi Graf went twenty-two straight matches without losing.
In 2017 the tournament announced it was leaving. The land at Crandon Park had been donated on the condition that only one stadium could ever be built. When the tournament tried to expand, the deed wouldn't allow it. The Miami Open moved to a football stadium in Miami Gardens and the Key Biscayne era came to an end.
