On Court
The Rio Open started in 2014 as Brazil's first ATP 500. Rafael Nadal won the inaugural title. It's the largest clay event in South America, held every February at the Jockey Club Brasileiro.
In 2024, a seventeen-year-old wildcard from Rio named João Fonseca made the quarterfinals — he was ranked 655th in the world. The next year he won his first ATP title in Buenos Aires, the youngest Brazilian to win it in the Open Era.
