On Court
The Monte-Carlo Masters has been played since 1897 — one of the oldest continuous tournaments in tennis. Despite being on the French Riviera, only one Frenchman has ever won it in the Open Era: Cédric Pioline, in the 2000 final against Dominik Hrbatý. Rafael Nadal won here eleven times, eight in a row between 2005 and 2012. No one else in the Open Era has won eight straight at any tournament. In 2025, at 21, Carlos Alcaraz won the same red clay against Lorenzo Musetti.
